ABOUT

OUR PURPOSE

When athletes experience a major injury, they are usually offered rehabilitation options for physical recovery, but seldom for mental recovery. A major injury deteriorates an athlete’s mental health because it impedes their physical abilities,  alters their lifestyle, and strips away a piece of their identity. This project will enable recently injured student-athletes to utilize a resource/support system that allows them to empathize with other athletes who have already overcome major injuries.

WHO AM I??

I am Fayna Zeng, a senior student-athlete at The University of Texas at Dallas. During my junior year of college, I suffered a season-ending knee injury and battled through an eight-month long recovery. I received lots of resources supporting my physical rehabilitation, but nothing to aide in my mental recovery. I struggled finding a new social group, battled diminishing self-confidence, and above-all had to rebuild an identity that had been mine for the past 12 years. It took a toll on me mentally and emotionally, which was undoubtedly the lowest point of my life.

The pain from my battle compelled me to help others who are going through the same pain alone.
